Hi all
Is it possible to import a Capture One or Media Pro catalog?
No, as dt doesn’t know the dtabase scema. You may have a chance if the other program is capable of creating sidecar files (.xmp files).
But even then you won’t be able to import your edits, as dt has no way of knowing what the different steps mean, or what to do with the parameters. Even something as simple as a crop can be defined in several ways: coordinates of a rectangle [(top, left), (bottom.right)] or a corner and a size, or four distances measured from the outer edge,…
more precise: if the other program is able to create a darktable or lightroom xmp file - for Lightroom see darktable 4.0 user manual - importing sidecar files generated by other applications
Meta file creation/management in C1 is problematic at best. If you shoot raw+jpg, C1 will write settings for both in the xmp file.
exiftool has a number of useful tools meta data. Not simple to use unfortunately.
Not certain how to advise you as to the best path forward. I abandoned cataloging in C1 a couple of years ago.
C1 doesn’t put a lot of info in xmp files, but puts info in cof files. Exiftool can read this.
I would imagine with the right command line options for exiftool , you could create full featured xmp files for ingesting onto Darktable.
The best place to ask for assistance would be [ExifTool Forum - Index (ExifTool Forum - Index). Phil Harvey, the author, is very active in the forum.
Good luck.
