I can’t seem to find that option anywhere. If I try “Open with > Other” Darktable isn’t there. Preferences doesn’t seem to have any option either.
Any hints appreciated.

How did you install these apps? Snap, flatpak or deb
Flatpak via Pop Shop.
edit: I know Digikam was flatpak. I think Darktable was too but I’m not sure.
You’ll need to use the flaypak-spawn command to launch apps outside the flatpak’s sandbox.
For digikam to launch darktable, something like flatpak-spawn flatpak run org.darktable.Darktable <file name>
How about if I remove Digikam and Darktable and re-install them via apt install?
I confirmed I installed both with Pop Store so why don’t they talk to each other?
I tried installing flatseal and toggled several switches but before I went further my Framework laptop completely crashed. No power no nothing. I’m going to take it apart and confirm the track pad cable hasn’t come loose.
Flatpaks are sandboxed.
OK thanks, I’ll have to put it all aside until I can get my laptop running again.
Hi Mica-
I ran across this old thread, and wonder where these commands might go.

I have a Flatpak install of DK and DT on a laptop, and in DK, the settings for the image editor doesn’t see any external editors (they are greyed out). On my desktop pc, they are available in the non-flatpak installs I have configured.
Any hope to get the two flatpaks working on the laptop? It’s an immutable distro, so not sure of alternative means.
Thanks,
You can try and create a custom external editor on dk and put that command there.
Thanks, it’s my annual try to make use of DigiKam event.
The digiKam devs have nothing to do with any Flatpak version so cannot help you with that. Your best bet is to download the AppImage from digiKam - Download and use that instead. It should work even on your immutable distro.
Thanks for your recommendation. I gave it a try and still can’t seem to get darktable flatpak recognized as a RAW processor. I’m going to keep working with this immutable distro for a while, but so far I can’t get some things working that may make we switch to something less bleeding edge.
Just to elaborate, here are the issues I haven’t been able to overcome:
So far, this immutable system doesn’t seem quite ready to offer much benefit over say a stock fedora install. I’m glad I’ve done this testing, and happier that I’ve kept my main workstation on a more conservative distro.
You need --host in this command too
