I export as jpg but exported images are still dng

I work in darktable and get the problem stated above. Some images also get a pp3 file.
How can I get jpg images when I export dng files? I set the format to jpg but this is ignored by darktable.

can you share a screenshot of the export-modules setup?

Is it even possible for darktable to export a pp3?

What version of DT and what OS? Maybe a screen shot of your export module. DNG is not an export option in DT and pp3 is a Rawtherapee sidecar file. Is RT loaded on your computer?

You must be working in Rawtherapee not darktable.

DT 5.2.1, Win 11.
Yes, I have RT installed and may have processed some of the images with it.
Now I have tried to export fresh and untouched DNG images, and still got DNGs + XMPs as result. At least there were no PP3s any longer.
I took 2 screen prints and I attach them here:

your pictures are hiding in the darktable export folder and the PP3 sidecar files were written by RT.

If you remove darktable_exported/ from your target storage it will place the pictures into the folder they came from rather than a subfolder. That is my personal preference.

Thank you Terry!
Yes, of course the images were there in the darktable_exported/ map. I was fooled by the RAW files I saw,
I will take your advice and remove darktable_exported/ from the target file.
Now I can go on.
Thanks again! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you!

Glad that resolved it. BTW, I have activated a LUA script “external editors” and this allows me to use collection as my target. My exports are placed back into the folder they came from but are also added to the DT database and the thumbnail appears in the filmstrip of DT.
