Hi- I’m using darktable v 5.4, copy and import, and have noticed that subdirectories by date of image are no longer being created. I get a folder of files corresponding to a film roll instead.
Took a look at the 4.8 manual, seems like the subdirectory dialog is not present in v 5.4.0
Something peculiar to my install, or has this been dropped.

In preferences you can set filmroll naming which is the same thing as sub directory naming. In other words I think only the name was changed.
I sort my images into folders based on date structure and use job code to further add a description of what will be in the folder such as holiday destination. In the sample shown here I was doing some ISO testing on a Canon R7
