Yes, my mouse needs to change. It is sticky 
. I thought something is better than nothing. I hoped, with the clouds all around, I would get away with the defect (except for the discerning eye like yours)

I tried to remember what your main goal was:
I think a bit colder in the Color Calibriation is the key for the gloomy feel.

BTW, I have the same camera as yours (Sony A6000), the kit does a disservice to this camera. There are good and inexpensive lens options for it.
I increased exposure and used tone equalizer to fit the compress the dynamic range, then I mapped the black point with color balance rgb and the white point with sigmoid (target white and skew). And minor corrections (color equalizer, and color calibration in channel mixer mode).
