i don’t understand tech companies , linux distros and software apps increasingly moving to discord like its a good platform for support and help. The lack of seo search turns it into a flood of repeated questions which kills the whole community.

Getting back on topic I would like to point out a bug i’ve noticed with Safelight. I noticed when you switch tone-mappers it doesn’t reset the image tone-mapper but applies the one you selected onto it washing out the image.
I have a feature request , can we please have scroll zoom on images? & A custom size selector or dimensions for export.

Hey, would it be a difficult task for you to manually choose a Lens Correction Profile manually without any limitations? I’m still experienced the problem of the software not detecting/reading my camera

Lens correction comes from the lensfun database should accept any custom lens file. If your lens isn’t in the custom list, you can upload a custom file.
If there are limitations I’m not aware of, please let me know and I’ll try my best to improve it. 
As for reading camera information, Safelight uses libRaw and should be able to recognize most, but not all newer cameras.
Yeah, I did some research and I found that the app uses lensfun database in which there are hundreds of profiles. The problem that I’m facing is that it only shows a few and I can’t directly find any of the Panasonic lenses. I’ll upload a couple of images

I might see the problem. Just to confirm, your lens doesn’t show up when entering “panasonic” in that search bar? There should be plenty of Leica and Lumix lenses, but maybe I’m missing some.
Oh my… I just found out that there’s no “fix” for the aspect ratio of 16:9, only for 4:3, I’m so sorry for bothering you.

Discovered this thread today and have been playing around with Safelight for a few hours. I have been a Darktable user for years while suffering from it’s horrible UI, but loving it’s features even though it has gotten somewhat bloated over time.
Safelight is great. I just love the idea of extensions that allow me to get rid of what I don’t want or don’t like, keeping things simple and focus on the photo and not the software. Also it is surprisingly fast compared to Darktable on my Thinkpad, which is a great plus. Seriously considering switching from Darktable already …
But … Export Resolution is limited to four predefined options or am I missing something? Any plans to give us the option to specify custom resolution for export?

A bit more experimenting with Safelight. I’m testing in Windows 10, but also in Linux Mint and MXLinux in VirtualBox. I have the latest version for all three. When I imported a set of photos into both Linux distributions, import took about 10 minutes for 170 raw images, and then the app’s screen went black. I was able to grab the app and move it around, but the interface, including menus, was all black. I closed the app and restarted and it restarted fine and all the imports were there. No such problem on Windows.
I wish I could delete from disk all the rejects instead of just remove the from the catalog. Instead, I open the folder after I’ve renamed the images and delete everything that wasn’t renamed.
Renaming images is a lot easier than DT thanks to the EXIF Tools extension. It also also helps with entering metadata not built-in to Safelight. However, I am winding up with two .xmp files, xxxx.xmp and xxxx.ARW.xmp. I presume the second is from EXIF Tools, because it includes captions, copyright, and GPS data.
When I export jpgs, the caption, copyright, GPS, keywords data is not included in the jpg. This is pretty important to me.
I discovered you can both star a thumbnail and reject it. I don’t think that’s a great idea LOL.
I’m enjoying the app, though! Thanks for the hard work.

It took me 3 mins to import 250 raw files , this seems to be a recent regression. I’m on Windows 10.

What camera/file format? And do you have previews set to “Auto,” “Embedded jpgs,” or “Rendered?” And Thumbnail quality “Fast,” “Balanced,” or “Sharp?” Thanks. I’m shooting ARW on a Sony a7C II, raws are 40-46MB each.

I’d have to look into the black screen issue, but I can add the reject deletion for sure.
As for metadata, I added a “privacy first” marker at some point so you need to enable it in preferences→export.

I opened the exported jpg in Photoshop and used File Info to see what information was included. While the camera’s EXIF data was embedded in the jpg, I don’t see either the metadata I inserted using EXIF Tool extension, nor the GPS data:
I opened a similar jpg from the same event that i exported using DxO PhotoLab 8, and the metadata i hope to see is all there. (again from Photoshop File Info):
Am I doing something wrong, or am I expecting something that’s not available?

EDIT:
Just to follow up, I installed EXIFtool, and it confirms that the Safelight-exported jpg has no gps nor iptc data, but the DxO-exported version has the data (copyright, description, GPS) included in the EXIF portion of the file.

Just wanted to let you know that I edited some photos from my last trip on Safelight and I must say - something inside me has rekindled with the editing process.
I feel like the apathy towards editing that has accompanied me for the last few years is starting to wane
