Is there a way to speed up Tiff Exporting and make it non-system-stressing?

During 16bit Tiff exporting from my 36mpix CR3 files, Darktable and the whole system stutters.

I’ve set Uncompressed, that sped up a bit, but still it’s not fast nor fluid. I would be ok with the speed but the mouse/system stuttering really bothers me.

It’s happening on a fast M.2 drive.

If you start darktable from the CLI with darktable -d all and then export a tiff, is there anything relevant in the terminal output?

Didn’t see anything unusual. Mostly how much memory OpenCL is using (I’m using hardware acceleration). I have found no errors.

The produced tiff file is 180-190MBs.

That being said, the produced TIFFS now have been noticeably faster, for whatever reason.

You could try different settings in Processing → tune OpenCL performance.

(I understand you checked darktable-cltest to make sure OpenCL is working.)

you might have a look at darktable 4.6 user manual - memory & performance tuning

Well the all new darktable 4.6 version has just been released so I’m waiting for it to come from testing to regular reps for Arch. Some OpenCL stuff have been vastly improved and overall should be much quicker.
