Kdenlive rendering just got 4x faster?

I did a dist upgrade yesterday and now a render that took 40 minutes is only taking 11 minutes. I wonder if other applications saw a similar speed ups? I’m using nVidia’s driver instead of from the tree. Didn’t upgrade that, just the Linux headers and some other files I didn’t really notice.

Any insights?

Could be that it’s using hardware accelerated encoding now, that should be considerably faster. I’m not sure about how it exactly works but it does sound plausible. …Or you just changed some random settings. :slight_smile:

Looked at my history and I see kdenlive didn’t upgrade but gstreamer did. Maybe a clue.

Afaik, Kadenlive uses MLT and not gstreamer:
