LGM pixls Presentation

I need everyone’s help. I have a 20 minute speaking slot at LGM on Saturday to talk about this community.

If there are works, projects, or more that you’d like to make sure get a mention during the presentation, please get it to me asap. You can post here or PM me if you’d like!

@Carmelo_DrRaw already has a slot to talk about PhotoFlow earlier in the day, but folks like @CarVac who won’t be at the meeting should really be publicized! (@CarVac can you get me screenshots + text for a slide or two to talk about Filmulator?).

I am open to all thoughts, ideas, and feedback about the community. So please don’t be shy if there’s something you’d like me to address to the wider FL/OSS community!

Here’s the 2016 programme (schedule) if anyone wanted to see what is coming up.

Filmulator is a project Carlo Vaccari and Omer Mano started, to make photo processing simple and enjoyable again.

After realizing that film development itself performs tone mapping, they wrote up what is literally a simulation of film development, and found that it gave enhanced local contrast, decreased global contrast, a natural-looking boost to colors, and nice highlight rolloff.

They built their own editor around the algorithm that focuses on effortless navigation around the image instead of the tools, and on managing and organizing (eventually) the photos taken.

Currently they’re working on improving performance of their image pipeline, getting the algorithm ported into other editors, and improving the database system for more ways to organize photos.
