I don’t think so, at least until I cannot build the G’MIC plug-in for GIMP 2.8 anymore.
Right now, I’ve a working compiling environment for GIMP 2.8 (kindly set up by @samj),
and it doesn’t cost anything to get the plug-in working for GIMP 2.8.
I did the same, and I have also the error. That’s interesting, because I will be able to do my own tests and try to see what is going on.
Hopefully, the bug will be fixed one day or another
