Looking out of a cave to see the canyon below

Ya sorry,

FWIW…I didnt even use scales just a few overlapping shapes using healing…moved things around until it sort of blended if you didn’t look to close…almost anyone spending some time on it could do a better job…

As for the rest of the render I guess being there would help guage the relative brightness inside and out of the cave…the great thing is that the one image can be prepared in such a range of options wrt to that aspect and the color saturation which can be muted or varied as needed…

Todd has done a great job with the retouch module. The retouch module is very powerful and worth learning. I didn’t try to touch the clipped highlights in my edit which is my bad. I have only ever used wavelets on skin to retain the original texture of the skin but remove some blemish such as a pimple. Wavelets is probably rarely needed but is another great option in the tool.

Are there any changes to retouch in 5.3? Seems like AgX is the new hot topic. If not maybe I’ll learn retouch first. 5.3 will probably be out by the time I figure that out and at that point I can learn how to switch my workflow, if you could call it that, from sigmoid to AgX

Hi @Terry

My Lumix G9 supports Manual mode with auto-ISO. Wow; I hadn’t even considered such a mode before. I’ll start practicing with it, but this may indeed become my new default.

Thank you! :grinning:

Hi @daithi

I think you have a good plan here. Retouch has been in place for quite awhile, and I’d be surprised if there are any modifications in 5.3 for that module.

The upcoming AgX module is more complex than Sigmoid, so I’d learn Sigmoid first.

I am not aware of any changes to retouch in DT 5.3 which I am using at the moment. AgX is very easy to use and not complex like filmic. Most of my AgX use involves clicking on two eyedroppers and job done. But I also agree that Sigmoid is a very good module and maybe the easiest for a first timer. But AgX is so much better than filmic in terms of use and results in my view.
