Macbook Pro M1 Max font problem

Installed Siril on M1 MacBook Pro and get squares for most characters. Seems to be missing font. Please advise. Thanks.

Srirl text displays as rectangles in OSX Mojave

With regard to fonts, the Open Source community can perhaps suggest more practical application. There are not, to my understanding, specific OS fonts. Open Source applications are typically ported to Windows, Mac and Linux, where the Mac OS is a version of Linux not named Linux. Is there a font that is common to all? Thanks for this. However, no luck here. I downloaded multiple versions of TheSansBold family and installed them in font book. No luck.

All I am asking is where do I download the correct version of the font to use with Siril on a Mac.

Do you have same issue with GIMP?

GIMP's application font replaced by boxes containing unicode numbers (#7589)...

I don’t use GIMP. The current version of Sirl works fine on a newer MacBook Pro. Just need to know which font to install and where to download it. Thanks.
