since the version 4.0 of Darktable there is a build-in support for midi devices. And this works very very smooth.
But now I have a problem, I want to map sliders to the elements of the graph of the module color-zones. In the help-page of DT (darktable 4.0 user manual - midi device support) it says for the loupedeck: “the 8 sliders/wheels can be individually mapped to the elements of the graph in color zones”
My problem is, that I can not find these elements in the shortcuts of the menu.
How do I map midi-knobs to the elements if they are not available in the shortcuts list?
I also found out how to map these in the UI!
When you click on the shortcut for colorzones “graph”, it will give you the selection for the color in the “element” column! There you can select red, orange, etc…
A bit of tricky to find out, but once you know it’s clear!
For visible elements (“widgets”) it is usually more convenient to use visual shortcut mapping mode. Click the shortcuts button (to the left of the preferences button) and hover over the element you want to assign a shortcut to. Then simply use the shortcut (like turn the midi knob). If you hover over the colorzones graph, the popup will show which color/element will be mapped. This way you can quickly map all 8 colors by moving the mouse and turning each knob in turn.
Understood. Do you know if there are any major issues from a methodology standpoint in the @flannelhead branch of that module? I could in theory have a look at fixing up some of the ui issues with it that currently make it unsuitable for use with LD+.
I may have misunderstood the part of the discussion I followed, but would that not only become a problem if the number and horizontal position of the nodes were to be made configurable, as some people demanded? I have no intention of implementing that as I fully agree with Aurelien’s position that a targeted, stable, predictable tool is more useful for most people than one that is likely to cut you as soon as you innocently try to use one of the many possibilities it “helpfully” offers.
