It’s definitely intentional. Whatever you do in a module that’s changing output should be UI-presented as local as possible. Inspecting effect, change mask processing … Just search through github discussions both issues and pull requests.

It’s basically not about resources or being allergic to some other software, it’s the way - i can’t speak for all but i am pretty sure we agree here - we devs want it to be. There is certainly room for improvement how masks are used but staying local.

Thank you for the clarification. I respect your work as developers in every way imaginable. It’s also understandable that it’s difficult to act on suggestions. As an “outsider,” it’s clear to me that I’m missing a lot of information that’s completely obvious to you. You’ll also keep getting the same requests through various channels. But the only way for me/us to change that is to make suggestions and ask questions.

People interested in change or why was this done can also research the history of the project to get some idea of how it came to be in the current iteration. Since it’s open source, the history and code are available and searchable.
