Missing modules?

Hi,
I’m new to darktable, using v4.8.1 on macOS. The manual mentions several utility modules, like scopes, filmstrip, focus peaking but I cannot find them anywhere in the application. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The manual is quite complete and answers all these questions, here is the page for focus peaking: darktable 4.6 user manual - focus peaking

Use the search feature of the online user manual to find each of these features. The manual is comprehensive and can be overwhelming but the search feature tends to work well.

The histogram is probably the default view of the scope panel. See the user guide for how to switch between histogram or scopes.

On my windows computer Ctrl+f hides or reveals the film strip in the darkroom view. It may be command+f on a Mac?

Thanks!

Start at the very beginning (as the song says) with the initial manual sections for overview and layout sections under Lighttable and Darkroom. Some mysterious icons and their locations are defined and described.

I don’t use the film strip. Terry has mentioned how to show/hide it.

My personal preference is for as much picture as possible, with only the modules panel and useful-to-me information visible. You can hide/show various areas. The manual explains how to tailor the screen to your taste.

Sometimes this can happen when you don’t want. There are keyboard shortcuts for hiding/showing stuff, and keys can be miss-pressed. I often press ctrl-w by mistake when exporting a picture: it took me ages to understand that that was what I was doing! And now I can use it on purpose. if you cannot find something, you might have hidden it.

Pressing h displays all the keystrokes for quick reference, but the manual is a more friendly place to learn about them.

Welcome and enjoy
