Taken on the way to work one morning.
I’ve been waiting for the seasons to start changing around here because we get fairly drastic high/low temperature swings over night, and that means that almost all of the bodies of water get a nice morning mist as the sun rises.
I had hoped to get a little more luminosity and colour from the shaded part of the hillside, but when I tried to push it I ended up losing some of the mist. I wanted to keep that so I backed off.
I’ll keep my eyes open on the drive because this may look a bit better with the sun a bit higher in the sky.
Have fun with this one.

This is another captured image that I feel is so excellent that I didn’t want to change much. This is what I came to with it.

Leaned heavy on the blue hoping to capture that frosty morning feel and to show off the mist.

Felt it needs a sun.

Was going to try and add more mist but a little research tells me that mist is kind of the opposite to “more luminosity and color” so, for me - back to the drawing board … I might be baack …

Using GIMP 2.10.36 / Gmic Lab mixer for color tone / adjust color temperature / curve to adjust contrast value.

GIMP. I have tried to lighten the hills whilst retaining the mist - not entirely successful! I think another attempt is called for.

So I selected the mist with a big feather edge, reduced the contrast, increased the brightness and then applied a large-ish radius global USM, et voila, more mist:

Even more mist plus GIMP>Enhance>Wavelets residual contrast - at the expense of shadow detail:

This, I like… That’s what I was hoping to get out of it.
I’ll dig in to the .xmp later.
Thanks!
