Move sidecar (xmp/pp3) files with raw image files?

Hello,

I’ve been searching for a few days for an existing solution to my problem but I’m coming up blank. I need to organise a few thousand raw files and their sidecar files in to folders by date. I know how to use exiftool to move the images, but it leaves behind the sidecar files. Is there an automated solution which moves the sidecar files along with images?

i wrote a ruby script around exiv2’s rename feature which then finds the matching xmp files and moves the with the raw. the script is not ready. but i am sure you can write something similar in your favorite language.
