Multiple presets for a module

I’d like to have two presets applied for diffuse & sharpen: sharpen demosaicing, and add local contrast. I have named the module instances, and defined them as presets to be autoapplied, but only of them is applied, and it doesn’t have any name.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there a limitation that a single module can only be autoapplied once? Or as the preset drops the module name, the module is actually applied twice, but the second instance overwrites the first one?

I think you will need a style and you can’t auto apply those…you can apply them to any selection of images

Yes, you need two instances of D&S to do what you want (very common) and as far as I know a preset will only do one. But a style is easy to create and apply… I can give a quick run through if it helps.

Thanks @123sg, no need to. I have used styles. It would have been more automated to use the presets.

I created a Feature Request on this. FR: Multiple presets for a single module · Issue #12853 · darktable-org/darktable · GitHub

Is there a reason, why styles cannot be auto applied (or given at import time)?

I would like that.

I’m not sure there’s a reason (other than “nobody decided to do it”). Two options are available - either apply your style to all your images immediately after importing (in the lighttable), or assign the style to a keyboard shortcut so you can quickly apply it (in the darkroom).

Yeah, that seems easy enough :+1:

I did try the suggestion with styles via shortcuts and I like it.

A couple of styles as starting point for standard scenes (outdoor/indoor/at night/…), with useful named modules (even deactivated ones, which might be needed)… cool!
