Wow! Did you have to get your subject to stand still for the exposure, or did you blend images?
check the sailboat - the exposure isnβt THAT long β¦
No, but the subject is comparatively sharp in relation.
I like the tones in the foreground especially.
@houz When I first looked at this image I wasnβt too impressed, the movement of the boat just looked wrong.
But on about the third viewing I started to warm to it, but still feel it would be a great image with the boat cloned out.
The tones are excellent.
Yes, I blended two images. The man is taken separately, all the rest is a single 20 second exposure. At first I tried to have him stand still for the whole time but it was windy as hell and I was glad I could stabilize my tripod more or less (the image is quite blurry when viewed in full resolution). Standing still out there was impossible. I copied him in manually in GIMP, did a lot of dodge&burn in GIMP, then went back to darktable and finished there.
I was asked about the dodge & burn step. This is the mask I painted in GIMP (combined, that was over several layers). A graphics tablet is a great tool for this!
This is a strong image. I really like the tones!
