I request some help proofreading an article I just wrote for the release of the latest major version, 4.0, of G’MIC.
This article summarizes the work accomplished over the past year. I first wrote it in French before translating it into English with an LLM.
Would anyone be interested in reviewing it and suggesting possible improvements (mainly regarding the fluency of the language)? Any feedback to improve this article is welcome!
I did a quick read-through looking at the English. (I am not a G’MIC user, but after reading this, perhaps I should try it.)
I think the English here is fluid and correct - at least from my cursory read-through. Even the wordplay you used works perfectly for a native English speaker:
In short, this is a 100% Norman algorithm that runs udderly well , and you won’t find it anywhere else!
The emoji’s will help non-native speakers understand that the word choice is a joke.
These few demonstrators already hint at a G’MIC language that is well-suited for creative coding, which, is the practice of using computer programming as a medium of artistic expression (visual, musical, literary, interactive, performative…) in its own right.
For standard English, remove the comma after “which”, thus:
As said already, It reads prrfectly well and with some personality.
I have no idea of what the technical terms meant but they are used sparingly, so easy to find, define and comprehend…I’m sure.
One thing though!
The Great Tit and the Parakeet. Should they not have their positions swapped.
Scanning from left to right I thought the Parakeet colours were being transferred to the Great tit.
Also I found the cars example confusing. I’m sure there’s a logical explanation but thats how this Newbie sees it.
Ps, In greyscale terms, would the colour transfer filter be the same as using a CLUT?

Usually in articles, we first show the image to be transformed (the “source”), then the image containing the colors to be borrowed (the “style”), and finally the result of the transformation, but I understand that some people might want to see the “style” first. It’s mostly a matter of convention, and since I already have the figures ready, I have to admit I’d rather keep them in the order they’re already in!
That’s exactly what the color transfer algorithm generates at the end : a CLUT, both for color or gray-valued images.
