Need help removing hot pixels

Hello, I am trying to find a way to remove hot red pixels. Can anyone point me to the correct direction

I took some long exposures lately with nikon d610 and the files are a mess

take a look

Just a quick first question - did you turn on Impulse Noise Reduction?

@tzic Sure :slight_smile:
There are several reasons for hot pixels and several methods in RT to fix them.
In your long exposure example I would try to fix them by using the Hot pixel filter in Preprocessing section of the Raw tab.

The way @patdavid mentioned to correct this pixels should also work. In fact, the method I suggested only works for raw files, while impulse noise reduction also works for tiff and jpeg files.

Looking at your picture, I think the dark frame option might help. It requires you to take a picture with your lens cap on, ideally the same length and iso to use as the sample.

See “Preprocessing”.

Thank you all for the help. @patdavid, @heckflosse methods worked fine. I will try dark frame option as rd52 suggests Morgan_Hardwood thank you for the link (Cant mention both of you because I am a new user)
