Any chance we might get “easing gradients” in GIMP?

Certain gradients are more natural looking than others, depending on your application. As with highlight cutoff, it depends on the rate of change. Example from gmic
. Top: linear (x). Bottom: non-linear (x2.2). You could expand upon this by using the curves tool, etc.

I have done so many sky and cloud pictures, controlling the subtle variation in sky is usually a problem. Sometimes I blend in a GIMP gradient to smooth things out. In the link I posted, their non-easing example immediately reminded me of what I get in graphic software.
Applying a curve. Top: linear (x
). Bottom: apply s-curve to linear (exp(i)/(exp(i)+1)
). The bottom gradient should be a little more natural at the ends.
