New to agx, grab a chair

I have been trying my hand at agx for the last couple of shots, and I mostly like what I get out of it, but for some reason most shots end up darker than I’d like. Maybe it’s me doing things wrong.

Can you fine folks grab a chair and show me how it’s done?

Well, there is no such thing as “how it should be done”, but here is how I did it.

A quick edit with DT 5.4 AgX. For what is worth if you adjust the pivot target output slider at the end of your edit you can tweak the final exposure if it has worked out a little too light or dark. That may or may not be an intended use for that slider, but I find rather than going back to the exposure module or elsewhere I can finalise my brightness in the AgX module.

The crooked top of the building really bothers me, but it looks like it is built that way.

And it’s not just the top! The whole middle layer is somehow skewed a bit, it’s one of those “cannot unsee” things.

Oh, that’s actually an interesting take — I wouldn’t have thought of cropping off the bottom end of the building, but it makes complete sense!

For tweaking try the lift and brightness in the look section… These can be nice adjustments to tweak a result that is a little dark

Darker compared to Sigmoid or Filmic? Have not noticed it in this particular photo, but you can use “pivot target output” in AgX https://darktable.info/en/darkroom/light-color/agx/, or adjust global exposure, or both
