I just thought I might share this nifty feature I found in DT. I can rename folders from within DT.
Here is my scenario. I use DT to copy and import pictures from my phone into dated folders with the jobcode phone included in the name of the folder. In DT I select the folder, view the images and decide on a more suitable jobcode for the folder. A right click on the folder in the collections module gives me the option to update path to files. This then opens up a dialog which I can navigate to rename the folder. This is another great DAM management feature in DT that I presume many people would be unaware of.
Nice find! Tested successfully on Mac and Windows. This is great because I could not find convenient solutions when I searched online for how to rename a collection. I ended in a mess with all my files duplicated. This is better.
(Hopefully this also works with the GTK file picker on Linux, but if it doesn’t you could still rename the folder during the operation–the “show in file explorer” user script is your friend–and it will still feel more like a single operation, less likely to lose track of what you’re renaming.)
I was about to ask how to use this script but then I found another nifty DT feature after a Google search. A manual for lua scripts. I didn’t realise that existed. So I will read that before asking any questions. Thanks.
