Nonprofit event: in-person donations

I have been volunteering as a lead organizer for a one-day nonprofit eco-/family-friendly event where entry is free. We want to provide an option for participants to give donations in a convenient cashless manner. Looking for suggestions from the tech/FLOSS literate crowd. Thanks!

Excellent idea. Upon landing at platform, can also optionally sign up for future info, newsletter, etc., or opt-out of same. Also, ask whether donor would like credit being named as a donor, or anonymous to public. If in the US, check IRS requirements to send acknowledgment if over reporting threshold so donor can obtain potential tax deduction and nonprofit can comply with reporting accordingly.

p.s. - if your nonprofit has logo bling, this might also be on offer on the web page (in addition to at the event of course).

Speaking of nonprofit and charitable status, from what I could glean from the PayPal website, there is no distinction between nonprofits and charities. The organization needs to be a charity to benefit from lower processing fees. In Canada, one can be a nonprofit or charity but not both. Is this an American thing? Or a PayPal one?β€”in which case, I would have to call them to clarify.
