Norway 2026 calendar

I finally dug out these photos from a 2012 trip to attend a scientific meeting. Fortunately, I had plenty of time to explore and do some photography. At the time I was using an Olympus E-510 with kit lenses, and I had forgotten about some of the limitations of this camera, including tendency to blow highlights. I had originally wanted to limit the number of composite plates–because they are very time-consuming–but ended up doing mostly composites in this calendar, for a variety of reasons.

I just did Shutterfly for this one. I realize there are arguably better ways to go about this, but I don’t have a functional printer at the moment, and I am familiar with their website/software. Least resistance in this respect because processing the images (all in RT 5.11) is time-consuming enough. I am skeptical of August (Train from Hønefoss to Myrdal) as it was shot through a train window. Will have to see it in print before deciding…

Anyway, it was fun revisiting these images and remembering my time in this gorgeous country. Hope to return some day with my wife.

Looks awesome. Are you happy with the quality? Would you order from them again?

Thanks! Yes, I think they are quite satisfactory for a simple 8x11 format. I did Ireland, Spain, and SF Bay Area calendars with them in previous years.

I used Bay Photo for France and a tree calendar. Their templates are frustrating at times and they messed up more than once. Fortunately, they re-did them at no cost, but still put me a couple weeks behind. The advantage of Bay Photo is that you can talk to a real person and ask questions to find out a bit about their process and how to prepare images beforehand. When they get it right, the results are impressive.

Will likely print my own next year!
