oh holy stupidity

I started using version 5.3.
AgX and Boris’s video appeared.
I’m thrilled.
I tried using the Tone equalizer and what? … there’s no masking option!
Only after a while did I realize that what I was waiting for had happened. The masking sliders appeared in the Advanced tab.
This was about the thread about Tone Equalizer control circle - #4

My first thought was something was wrong.
But my second thought was, maybe I’m the stupid one.

I am so happy to use darktable.

I am not religious, but if I were, I would be certain that there is a minor deity protecting people from the consequences of stupid mistakes.

I give him/her a lot of work.

AgX is indeed amazing. I am having a lot of fun with it, will post a showcase soon.

You aren’t a follower of the goddess Anoia are you?

I like Pratchett’s works very much, but when I am cornered about my supernatural beliefs, I profess Pastafarianism.

I’m on 5.3 too and I hadn’t seen it, but gosh, yes it is there! I think I had been looking for ajx rather than agx. My brain does that stuff. I’m often the stupid one!

But I still have a separate masking tab in Tone Equaliser. I expect it might disappear one day soon

Masking is base of tone equalizer. You can disable that, but then it’s functionality is not that more than rgb curve module

I gather that there is a way (the long number after 5.3.0) to refer to GitHub for what’s ben changed. I don’t know why, but I find GitHub daunting and hard to find my way around. I guess it’s just me-stupid again.

GitHub seems to me like one those things that, when you know it, you know it, like regular expressions editing in vi. (Or like darktable? )

Anyway, I just wait for stuff to turn up. (and then spot it only if I spelt the search right).

Now I’ll go and watch Boris’s video again

I mean the new layout with masking on the same tab
