This was from my first visit to bonny Scotland in 1989. My plan on this day was to walk to the botanical garden, when this (what I thought then) beautiful castle came in sight, lit by the bright sun behind me and a serious storm ahead.
Btw, the garden was closed due to the storm warning so I took the bus to Firth Road Bridge for a good view of the fantastic Rail Bridge.
It is really unsharp and I will never again complain about my 18-55 kit zoom again
G’MIC Dehaze and an old plug I’ve not used for the better part of a decade; GIMP’s Despeckle filter and selective erase-throughs to clean the black specks in the sky (so if I missed some, oh well; lol).
GIMP.
Not really what I was trying to achieve.
Increase in contrast and saturation for the building and foreground and some sharpening. Reduced saturation and some cleaning of the sky.
About to retire my 2012 laptop and was going through files/folders deciding on what, if anything, I was going to transfer. This edit has been languishing in my downloads folder (as opposed to its proper place) for months.
The inspiration was old B&W vampire/horror type movies.
