Yeah, seems fixed.
No, I understand that it was unrelated to the site issues. It just prompted me to try to “fix” my IPv6 connectivity, which had been nagging at me for months.
As the op I thought I should report. I have moved house and not seen any issues since. (Same provider and only a km away from previous location). The issues mostly resolved themselves at the previous location before I moved but did return occasionally.
For me it affected both Chromium and Firefox at random. Sometimes I could resolve the issue by switching back and forth between browsers. This was not a reliable solution though.
I eventually developed a (not great) work around in firefox. I use the ublock origin extension and did the following dance. Ublock is only relevant because it enabled doing this in quick succession. Going through firefox menus would be slower.
- Disable javascript in ublock
- Refresh page. Which always meant it successfully loaded a basic interface. The html part of the site always loads for me.
- Enable javascript, refresh. This usually resulted in successful loading of page. If not immediately it did so after a few runs.
So based on my tests the issues is with loading some of the larger scripts. The network would frequently fail during loading. I suspect the site kept going as long as the script was accessed from the cache because eventually I had to do the dance again.
