I wanted to capture some autumn colours this year so I headed to a local botanical garden early yesterday morning. This was my favourite shot of the set, I liked how the main subject really had a natural contrast to the other trees around it as they had much more muted tones. To my eye, the foreground grass was slightly greener than it has appeared in the photo, though the area is still quite dry and I don’t mind the de-saturated look for this subject.
The day wasn’t very bright at the time and I might have under done the shutter speed, so it’s not super sharp. Whether that matters is subjective.
I’m happy enough with my reasonably subtle edit but thought it might be a nice one to share and see what others would do differently with the colours, especially since I’m running without colour calibration.
Great edits everyone, it’s surprising the different looks that can come out of a relatively simple photo. I particularly like how @msd was able to brighten things up while maintaining a natural look. I see a few others enhancing the emphasis of the subject to various degrees by bringing down the surroundings in a similar way to my effort.
