[PlayRaw] Balcony Bud

Made this on my balcony today, it’s a bud from one of my clematis. Made the preview from a early development stage, will post my final edits later.
Lens was a SMC Takumar 55mm M42

@pphoto Nice photo. Buds in my yard were damaged by the strong cold winds of late.

This was fun! I put more tools on this one than any PlayRaw I’ve done to date:

Here’s my rawproc tool list:

  • group: (my standard proof processing)
    • colorspace:camera,assign;
    • subtract:camera;
    • whitebalance:camera;
    • demosaic:half
  • blackwhitepoint:data - scale to 0.0-1.0
  • tone:filmic,6.20,0.20,1.70,0.50,1.00 - A very shallow curve, didn’t normalize to 1.0 so as to keep some definition in the highlights.
  • crop:0.141844,0.105220,0.888036,0.851413 - eliminated the couple of background nits on the left; really played with the layout of the bud entering the frame to dead-center.
  • saturation:0.30 - this is actually a desaturation; I wanted a muted pastel look
  • curve:rgb,0.0,0.0,29.0,13.0,185.0,186.4,255.0,255.0 - S-curve separated the bud from the background even more. Could have probably removed filmic and done all the tone here.
  • sharpen:convolution,1.50 - I wanted to put a little snap in the hairs, while the internal image was still the original resolution.
  • group: (my standard proof group prior to saving, but I upped the resolution for PlayRaw)
    • resize:1080
    • sharpen:1

As with most PlayRaws, I found rawproc regressions, this time I noticed in the sharpen tool the convolution matrix isn’t updating as I dial in various strengths; I’m re-organizing the command processing and missed that.

Great PlayRaw!!

@titux67 Welcome! Very nice edit. Can you attach the .arp sidecar file?

Thank you for the cool photo.
Here is my take on it. Not sure what happened in the background but I think my Tri Tone Color grade made the bokeh get a slightly marbled look due the the fact that it has some highlights, shadows, and midtones in there. But I kinda like what happened back there tbh.

Done with RT 5.8
