Print module missing and colour profile.

Fresh install Ubuntu 24.04 and darktable is not showing the print module in ‘Other’. Is this perhaps because I installed it before I installed the printer?

Also, while my monitor is showing accurate colours my Epson XP970 is printing a tad darker in the black areas while the whites are rather nice. Cannot find a way to adjust the gamut from the Ubuntu settings. Wondering if this can be achieved from within darktable once I have the print module working.

Any advise appreciated. Thank you

Unless you already have it on you could try printing with black point compensation on…this can lighten the blacks sometimes…if its already set just ignore me…

How’d you install darktable? Is it a snap? What’s the version of darktable?

Yes snap, version 4.8.1

Is this setting within darktable?

I guess the snap doesn’t have the print module included. You can try the OBS repo or the flatpak.

I think it would be in the settings of your print driver……

OK this is sorted… I installed through the terminal but this was 4.6 which included the printer module. Than I installed flatpak in the terminal as well and this was 4.8.1 with printer module.

Thank you for the help.

OK, colour issue with printer is nearly sorted. I downloaded gutenprinter and it has a driver for my printer. From there I can adjust several settings, many in fact. I have not yet found a perfect setting but close enough not to waste the ink. Shadows are now nearly perfect.

Gutenprinter functions best when printing in Gimp.
