Problem plate solving

Siril can’t plate solve this image. All the necessary information is in the fits header. I tried a different catalogue but nothing. It does plate solve in PixInsight but when I open this plate solved image in Siril again it doesn’t show the astrometric solution. Hope anyone can help. This is is the fits file,

First try, Siril soves the image:

This is normal because PixInsight doesn’t use the WCS/SIPS standard. It uses his own proprietary algorithm.

Well damn. I tried again today but it refuses to plate solve. I opened another image and it plate solves immediately.
Is it possible to show me the plate solve window with all the settings?

From the log shown by Cyril, the initial center was 96min from the final solution and Siril had to run a near-solve (to explore around the initial center).
Near-solve only works if you have local catalogues installed: Platesolving — Siril 1.4.0-beta4 documentation
Maybe you don’t?

I see it’s not very clear from the documentation, but you can download and install it using the dedicated python script Core->Siril_Catalog_Installer.py

You will need to install the Astrometry catalog:

I installed the local databases and it plate solves now. Thanks. I downloaded the 4 databases from the link and unzipped them. I will also install Gaia database.

I’m also having problems with the plate solving but I am a complete novice. Can you tell me how to find this catalog installer please

In Menu Scripts->Python SCripts->Core->Siril_Catalog_Installer.py

Thank you, I’m downloading it now. Do I have to do anything else or do I just try to Plate Solve from the menu? I tried reading the Platesolving article from your previous post but it is way over my head

DOwnloaded and tried plate solve but no success

Hopefully this is a screenshot wth the results

I see the pixel size and focal length are still in orange, meaning this info was not retrieved from the metadata stored in the file, just saved from a previous session. Are you sure those values are correct?

Yes, I’m using Unistellar Equinox telescope and these are the values I have entered manually, numbers obtained from various websites/google searches. I have also entered the image parameters by searching for M27

Then I need your image to figure out why. The star detection could be hard, I see the shape of the stars being really weird (like an awful lot of coma)

Maybe try the Aberration Remover script to fix the stars and then plate solve.

How do I send the image? I have a folder with the lights and a PNG of the dumbbell

This is the PNG

And without the Unistellar Frame

I need the file result.fit that you’ve shown above, you can use a file transfer service, wetransfer or the like

I have gone to Wetransfer and it wants your email

I think you can pick “get a link” instead of providing emails
