Hi,
I’m trying out GIMP 2.9 using Elle Stone’s McGimp-2.9-cce on Mac OS X.
If I open, say, Nik’s Dfine2 using Filters>Nik Collection when working on an 8-bit file, it works perfectly, as it did shelling out in 2.8.
However, if I try it with a 16-bit file, all I get when I go into Nik is a checkerboard pattern instead of the image.
Any thoughts?
Paul.
Try this, see if helps:
- duplicate the layer you wish to work upon
- instead of new layer from visible select current layer in py dialog
- tweak and apply effect
- ??

It worked! Thanks so much.
Any idea why I get a warning message about reopening a temp file?
Glad it did. About the tmp message I’ve got that one too, have no idea…a question for devs I guess; personally I’m quite ok with some minor complaining and turetts ‘cause finally I manage a kind of relationship with the gimp, will it last? will we have kids? will we take advantage of the x2 casquets’ offer? Who knows
Who knows, indeed? Thanks a lot.
sorry, I’m definitely jumping in the middle here - I just downloaded the Nik collection, but I’m on win10 (home edition)…any ideas how I can implement this into gimp?
