Quarantine 3D nonsense

I was sort of stuck at home for about a week and I had to keep myself busy with something creative, so I did these.

Modelled, shaded and rendered with Blender and Cycles. Post-processed with RawTherapee and GIMP.

Enjoy.

Beautiful! I especially like the ones I would call “rough details”. The seventh one, black/brown burned wood detail, being my favourite.

wow these look really cool! what’s this noise function you used there? some fractal brownian distorted by curl noise? can you share some details how you modeled it?

There was no modelling involved in making those rough details pieces. Just a heavily subdivided plane and displacement. The black and white one has the most complex shader and even that is pretty simple, because I’m really just a novice at this whole 3D thing.

Have a look at the node setup I used. All others are actually simpler and only use a single noise texture.

great, thanks for the screenshot. i think i was asking about your “noise texture” and “wave texture” nodes there

I hear the situation is really bad in Romania although we don’t hear/read much about it in Western media. Be careful stay healthy!
Although I am usually attracted to power I would not want to be a politican these days…

What you hear is moslty lies and exageration.

The situation is just fine. I myself and most of my close family had COVID and it’s not all that.

Myself, I was asymptomatic, my 87 year old grandpa has a bit of the sniffles and not much else, my brother had a slight fever and some muscle aches for a couple of days, my mum coughed a bit coupled with light fever, but nothing bad.

It affects different people differently. I had a couple of healthy friends whose conditions were serious. Thankfully, they have since recovered and are back on their feet.

@anon71831483 Glad you have found the time to explore more nonsense. One critique is that I find the blurring somewhat uncanny. What I do like are the polygon and texture images. If you could mix the two concepts, it would be interesting.
