The callout to the feather iridescence had me going back and playing with this a bit more actually. I didn’t want to color it too much to make it stand out, so ended up just desaturating everything else (except the moss)

Beauty of raw… Looks great…

I am learning something from the likes for my two renditions. The first has received at time of posting this reply 10 likes, but the second one when I increased contrast only 3 likes. The softer contrast is the more popular. Hmmm…I take that on board.

Though I agree with this…

Maybe be careful not to draw to much conclusion out of our likes here. I guess the earlier in the play-raw thread you post the more chance for a liking there is. And I to be honest - once I’ve posted something I am more likely to loose some interest and not always bother to like a good result.

That being said: I often feel that I and others over use (local) contrast quite regular.

Only the ‘processor’ (you) can be the final judge here…

Kind regards, Jetze

I’ve had this photo in the works for a long time, not knowing how to edit it. I’ve finally decided that this is what makes it look best. DT & Gimp & G’MIC.

One of the first things I was trying to do (with little success) was brighten the image while keeping the Raven dark. THIS is what I was envisioning at the time, so thank you for showing me it could be done!
