I have a chinese robo vacuum, and while I am sure my house layout is sent to china, my model only has front facing lidar, no mics, no cameras, this should be the way to go for these kinds of appliances. Plus fully offline functionality of course, without relying on an app.
I think internet and cellular surveillance is far worse than what any company can pull of at the moment, maybe with the exception of Google. State surveillance is the real danger, and banning robo vacuums and stuff like that seems like a distraction from who is really spying on us.

My diy sun filter. I am horrible at crafting/diy but I think it will hold for the single usage I will give it. It was looking a lot cleaner, but I added electrical tape over the inside edge just to completely seal it to light, and then I added another layer of tape to secure that tape 
It looks sturdy but time will tell. Now just gotta hope for no clouds Wednesday

Weāre so far behind the tech curve that we just recently got our first cordless hand-pushed vac, never mind robotic. Besides, we have cats and I donāt think a robotic vac would last long once they overcame their initial fear of it! LOL

My cats watch from a distance but donāt really interact with it
To be honest, itās a godsend when it comes to that, except that it just works. My new cat, ~1 year old, sheds a ton of hair, especially when my 10 year old cat decides to attack her (playfully).
Robot vacuum is one of the best time saving technologies ever made in my opinion
I still try to use wired for everything because I have bought and experienced too many battery duds. Battery powered is also not as powerful and reliable. But I have transitioned to a battery powered mower and snow shovel (or snow thrower as I call it). Even brushless is weak but my mother keeps on cutting the cables so it is worth it to buy them.
Thatās kind of why I replaced my 4-cycle gas trimmer with an electric a couple of years ago. Loooong ago I had a small Homelite 2-cycle trimmer that was great: lightweight, powerful (high max RPMs) and cut like stink. But 2-cycles are especially environmentally unfriendly and I ended up (a couple of replacements later) going with a Troy-Bilt 4-cycle. What an overweight, underpowered, hard to start dud.
So I found a site selling factory blem Ryobi gear at a discount and bought a corded motor unit compatible with my Troy-Bilt heads (trimmer, edger and blower). It came with a trimmer that was better than the TB, though. I bought a 100ā (~30m) HD power cord and that works for my needs. Yes, the cord is a minor hassle ā which I knew ahead of time ā but I have no need to charge, no need for a place to charge and the non-existent batteries will never degrade nor exceed their planned obsolescence threshold over time. All in all, Iām pleased. I was never able to determine what exactly about it was blemished, though. A little zip-tie got around the ridiculous extra dead-manās switch on the motor unit.
Iāll def consider an electric mower when itās time to replace my Honda-powered gas mower. Itās just a shame all this gear is getting so relatively expensive.
Maybe, maybe not. Cat hair is fine-textured, but on our hard floors it tends to assemble itself into little ādust kittiesā lurking in corners, under furniture, etc. I guess thatās actually an advantage ā Just go around and pick up the pre-gathered hair!

Question, do you ever find cat hair in your food or smth? 
That would be one of my top worries of having a cat run around my home (there are many more worries)

No, itās not really a problem if you vacuum regularly and wipe cooking surfaces/table every day 
Even so, one or two hairs, if it does happen, is not gonna cause any more harm than the regular house dust that you already ingest every day. The only real risk from cats is toxoplasmosis but itās very rare from hair and it seems like cat owners are as likely to get it as non cat owners, so itās a roll of the dice.

I have a small collection of deWalt 20V cordless tools, quite handy to not have to run cords all over the place. Includes a 18ga brad nailer for finish work, beats the compressor and tubing trail.
Some tools just need a cord. I bought a portable belt saw to make in to a cheap stand tool, needed a corded model so I could tape the trigger open and put a switch on the cord.
