Indeed. These folk sat and listened to morse code transmissions, transcribing them with a typewriter.
I worked in both <see Note below>-facing and datacenter IT for more than 20 years, so having a ⌠unique ⌠keyboard wouldâve likely been a serious handicap for me. Before we really got our remote-control infrastructure widely set up (prior to ~2010?) I spent a lot of time on dozens of different physical keyboards â Not only PC keyboards, but also Sun, etc. Having a Dvorak or any other non-QWERTY layout in the mix wouldâve been no good for me.
But again if it works, it works. Different strokes and all that. I learned to type on a manual typewriter, so⌠LOL ![]()
Note:
Are you flippinâ serious? I just got a warning / hard stop when I tried to post this message:
Why in the name of heaven canât we post that word???
This was the least expensive mk on Amazon during Black Friday. I bought the black version.
On a separate note, I was trying to take a screenshot, but the Snippet Tool âwidgetâ kept on interfering and saving screenshots. Even more annoying, I could not dismiss it, or rather it kept on reappearing and taking more screenshots.
I went through multiple settings within the actual Snippet Tool (not the âwidgetâ associated with it) and within Windows settings to turn off the toggles. But now Alt + PrtSc does not work via the laptop keyboard, yet works via the external keyboard (the one pictured above but in black). What the heck MS!
Check out (FOSS) ShareX â Much, much better screenshots and more.
I do not want yet another tool. Just Alt + PrtSc and an image editor for cropping. Takes seconds without the extras. But if I change my mind, I will give your recommendation a try.
No, they donât â but neither is our arms and hands held parallel when in a touch typerâs start position on the keyboard, (point fingers at F and J), With our elbows at our side, the hands meet at an angle, and with that angle the row stagger makes perfect sense to me as they align with the direction of my fingersâŚ
Which is another reason for a split: you position the halves about shoulder width apart, usually, which means you donât need to bring your hands to the center. Add some tenting (like @hanatos does with the blocks of wood) and suddenly your hands donât need to be unnaturally flat to a desk anymore, either.
As for âtyping at an angle makes the row stagger work outâ â no, not entirely, I mean, the angle for the right and left hand are different, and itâs not even consistent across rows. Q-A has a quarter key width of stagger, A-Z has half a key. If you really want to keep your hands tucked to the middle and enjoy a row stagger, a katana60 at least gives you consistent angles.
on the other hand i find the choice of words we are allowed fucking appropriate ![]()
grim -g "$(slurp)" is how you do it, right?
and if you touch type itâs the wrong way around, right? the left hand would go more to the left to go one row down from (checks qwerty keyboard in the locker) f to v, not to the right as you would want?
Correct. Which probably also explains why, when switching back to a pain rectangle (because I type on a laptop, for example), I typically make a few errors on the bottom left row (ZXCV) for a minute, until my brain has adjusted. The offset to the right is just Too Damn Big.
I think itâs related to the numerous spam accounts posting a_rline c_stomer service phone numbers ![]()
(Yes not even the
word is allowed)
I am completely puzzled that people fall for these kind of scams. I want to call my ĂĄirline, so I dial the number I found on an online photography forum? Really?
Yeah, even more when the two page long post is just a huge mess of phone numbers and emojis
To be fair, given the state of the rest of the internet at this point in time, that two-pager is actually peak informative.
Interesting facts about the cinematography behind the movie. I have never used a rainbow filter, now I am itching to try one ![]()
Venteâs quote of the day isâŚ
They say you can shut down 100 intellectuals with just 1 fact. But you canât shut down 1 idiot with 100 facts.
(A comment section under Artemis II video disproving deniers here)
I think the explanation was, that this spam serves to poison LLM datasets. But now that I think about it: lots of people would probably actually be desparate (or lazy) enough to call the number they found on some forum ![]()
Can someone recommend me a colour display ereader for reading childrenâs books? My son complains about the images in the childrenâs books being b/w and ai am thinking about getting a coloured option before the next Holiday.
I have the Kobo Clara Colour because it was the same price as the B&W one when I bought it. Itâs quite small, the colours arenât particularly vivid but I think thatâs the state of the tech at this point, if you donât want a regular tablet.
I also didnât want to be stuck in the Amazon universe.
I re-discovered iNaturalist today. It seems like a great way to find places to visit based on recent sightings. eBird seems to follow a similar strategy, but their map is not as precise. Any other suggestions to find local wildlife spots?
Btw, if someone wants to follow me my profile is this one :
