So now that AgX came out, I gave this another shot, but I can’t seem to be able to reach the desired effect.
I don’t even know if it is an issue or if it is just in my head, but I did indeed hear from people on youtube that cameras might get a bit confused about green and yellow.
It’s also possible that there is just so much yellow light bouncing off of the green stalks that the colors just blend together before the sensor is involved.
Or… it is a genuine issue. You tell me. Can you do better than I did? If you can describe your approach in a couple of words. Thanks.
Had a shot at this. I can’t vouch for colors as my screen is back to being not calibrated/profiled until tomorrow. BUT, Color EQ shows the vegetation as green and flowers as yellow (orange tinge)
I think we have a different white balance, which can be used to separate colors. You can use Color Balance RGB/Color EQ to correct them after.
Here’s my attempt. I went into a direction that feels somewhat dreamy to me.
Played with all sorts of color controls: increased the yellow/green separation through color calibration’s R/G/B tabs, then tweak the colors to my liking with the AGX’s primaries, and then tweaked a little more with RGB primaries. The played with contrast in contrast equalized, and used both the tone equalizer and the color equalizer to enhance the sky a bit.
Lumna Invert overlay to get a more saturated tonemap look and darkened the sky using G’MIC’s dehaze (one of my favorite tricks as far as darkening skies). Some contrast/sharpening enhancement and color shifts to taste as well.
edit: corrected a typo; also, with less tired eyes, might have over-sharpened a bit. lol
In situations such as this, I like to use the color tab of the contrast equaliser. As far as I understand, this explicitly pushes colors away from each other, and you can tailor it to the structure size of the rapeseed flowers.
(I’m not at my computer at the moment, otherwise I’d show an example)
