Rapid Photo Downloader 0.9.0b2 is released

Several bug fixes in this release, of particular interest to openSUSE users especially:

  • Fixed bug where installer would crash on Ubuntu when the Universe
    repository was not enabled.

  • Fixed bug to allow the error report window to run on versions of PyQt5
    older than 5.6.

  • Implemented workarounds for several bugs in openSUSE GExiv2 introspection.

  • Fixed bug when comparing Enums on Python 3.4.

  • Fixed bug when reporting a file renaming problem in the error reporting
    window.

  • When running on the Unity 7 desktop, show count and download progress
regardless of whether the .desktop file has hyphens or underscores.

can you please open a bug explaining the gexiv problems at https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/ ?

I will ping the right people to get them fixed then.

TIA

I tried filing a bug report yesterday but had problems with the registration process; happily it worked today.

As an aside I recognize the user fcrozat from Mandrake days - some years ago now!

Hi @damonlynch, trying the software on Ubuntu Unity (16.04 LTS), everything works fine. Iā€™m shooting RAW+JPEG by default and I wonder, is there a feature for automated handling of RAW-files (e.g. ā€˜put them in a separate subfolderā€™)?

At the moment, Iā€™m running a simple terminal command for this separation task. Am I missing the appropriate option or do you have something like this planned for future updates?

Best wishes, jay

Hi @jaydub255 , you can put raw and jpegs in different subfolders. Here is an example, from the documentation:

It works very well for me. Iā€™m using the latest GalliumOS on a little Acer C720. I especially appreciate now how having two sources (internal HD and SD card) works very seamlessly during one back up (to external HD). No issues, no lag, and no bugs that effect my usage (default naming conventions, but separate photo and video directories on the external SD). Automatic updates are a breeze and work seamlessly. Thanks for all the devel work!

There it is, painfully obvious. Shame on me and thank you, sir. Have a nice sunday.

Iā€™m glad it works out. Itā€™s no shame on you. Youā€™re not the first to not see how to do it. The ongoing challenge for me is to be able to design a UI that is flexible enough to allow the user to do many things but simple enough to be elegant and not overwhelming.

At some point I want to create a ā€œDid you know?ā€ tip of the day window that appears when the program opens that will highlight possibilities of the type your question relates to. But first 0.9.0 will be released.
