Hi all,
this is my first post here. My problem is that when opening a .nef file in both RT and CNX2, white balance is different. Is this normal? Thanks.
If you mean different temp/tint values … yes it’s normal …although the difference should be small … else please upload a raw sample, mention the exact Nikon model the version of RT that you use and the values that RT and CNX2 report.
@geldo
Hi and welcome! If you mean that different raw converters do not show the same values/numbers, even if we look at the “as shot” value: yes that is true.
Here are some readings from one and the same photo:
- ACR 4750
- RT 4437
- C1P 4696
- Silky 4531
- DT 4346
Hi @geldo and welcome to the forums!
I’m not sure what you mean that the WB is different? WB is not a property of the raw file (other than to carry what the WB setting was when the image was shot - otherwise you can change it to be whatever you’d like). Perhaps you have RT (or CNX2) loading a profile with an Auto WB set?
If you set the WB to Camera in both RT and CNX2 - do they still look different?
Thank you all!
I am using a “Coolpix A” and RT 4.2.1 on Win10.
So the numbers are what they are, ok… but the images also look different and WB is set to Camera in both.
These attached are exported jpegs, the first is CNX2.
Not sure if RT 4.2.1 fully supports “Nikon Coolpix A” … please first try a recent RT version New Windows builds - #221

if it’s still wrong please upload this raw file at www.filebin.net and share the link …
@ilias_giarimis
I downloaded the newer version and the problem is solved. Thanks!
Just a minor one (at the bottom of the screen, as you can see below), where the monitor profile name is too long I think:
By the way, what is the use of it?
@geldo Check your RT preferences, tab 4 (Color Management), Default monitor profile. Could it be that you have selected your monitor profile, which perhaps is display1-4bb6c…?
To enter Preferences, click the icon which looks like a mixer pult, at the leftmost bottom part of the window. When you have made a change, restart RT.
@Claes Thanks! Yes, that is my monitor profile in the preferences, and it shows up automatically in the combo box… but why should I change it on the fly while processing an image?
@Morgan_Hardwood Thanks! So it is a known issue, sorry.
