RawTherapee on FOSSHUB

(Morgan Hardwood) #1

Hey @FossHub

I wanted to point out a few things regarding RawTherapee on FOSSHUB:

  1. You can now link to the https site, https://www.rawtherapee.com/
The link to be updated is here: https://www.fosshub.com/RawTherapee.html
  2. It would be good for your readers if you linked to the “Getting Started” RawPedia page in RawTherapee’s description: http://rawpedia.rawtherapee.com/Getting_Started
  3. I made a new logo which is used as of 5.6, you can find it here:
  4. The description refers to "Mac® OS X® " and to “Mac and OS X”. However, Apple rebranded it to “macOS” in 2016. You might want to replace all instances of the former with the latter.
  5. Capitalizing “RAW” is a common mistake - it is not an acronym but an ordinary adjective or noun; “a raw file” same as “a raw carrot”, it should not be capitalized.
  6. The description mentions importing files more than once. Files cannot be imported. In fact, this is a “selling point” for some users who do not want a software which requires importing. You just open the file right in its folder.
  7. “spread out across five different tabs”, in 5.6 there are by default seven, and with Favorites there are eight.
  8. “edging” and “reduction” do not exist, never have.
  9. Perhaps worth a mention that RawTherapee is aimed at raw photo development and not digital asset management - see https://github.com/Beep6581/RawTherapee/blob/dev/README.md

Hello @Morgan_Hardwood

We just updated the page. Please clear your browser cache and take a second look:

  • there were three “https” links to update.
  • we updated the logo but honestly, couldn’t notice any difference between them (no offense).
  • we listed all the links you mentioned.

Anyway, please let us know if you want to make any other changes or updates.

Thank you!

@Morgan_Hardwood one more thing if you are a member of RawTherapee team. We can set up an account for you so that you can control the release process using our platform.

It is fast, safe, and you can automate the entire release process using our CLI or API or use the UI.

Keep in mind that we are one of the fastest, free hosting service, just an example:

Thank you!
FossHub Team

That isn’t the point, which is to represent the project accurately.

@afre, which is why we updated the logo with the one your colleague gave us and the instructions were respected. If you notice anything else that we can improve, please let us know, and we will do it right away!

Thank you!

BTW, the website is looking spiffier than I last checked.

@afre thank you! It’s not just the new look, but the code, speed, multiple CDN providers that we integrated, the number of POPs, API, some other features etc. We rebuilt FossHub from zero, the only thing we kept was the stats.

There’s a whole new team and wait to see when we launch our first app. We hope to disrupt a few products in the next few years that hide behind FOSS principles.

Thank you!
