Once upon a time, Rod Stewart had a hit with I am sailing.
I have just re-written his lyrics into I’m compiling.

It all started when I noticed that i had some time free for play. I have just built a new, fast computer, having a CPU with many cores (compile option -j17) - and, among other things, I inserted a spare SSD with a decent number of free gigs.

Sounds like a splendid set-up for trying Gentoo for the first time of my life, right?

Hm. I followed the Handbook carefully, and when it suggested me to re-boot into the new system, it simply did not. Grrrrrr. Back to the drawing board to start from another angle.

Presently, I am in the middle of another piece of Gentoo DIY instruction. Keep your fingers crossed, please :slight_smile:

Certainly not the caretaker of rods that I was thinking of. I’m assuming he was a musician, now.

My computers are to slow. That’s why I am using Archlinux. Poor man’s Gentoo :slight_smile: .
