Retouch Module dose not work.

I have used Retouch for years but I did something that prevents it from erasing a spot on an image. An obvious difference is I now have a Retouch Module 1 in addition to the Retouch Module. I tried to get rid of Retouch 1 by removing the Retouch Module and then re-added Retouch but Retouch 1 is still there. I reloaded Darktable 4.2.1 and Retouch 1 is still there.

I would appreciate any suggestions about how to get Retouch working again.

Thanks,

David

You can have multiple instances of the retouch module. Just remove the one you want to remove.

As for it not working, you’ll need to provide more details to get good support.

I tried to remove the Retouch 1 by right clicking my list of modules, but Retouch 1 is not on the list. Only Retouch is listed. If I remove Retouch and they add it again, Retouch 1 is still there. How do I remove Retouch 1?

where do you see both retouch instances - on the left and on the right panel? If just on the left side; does it disappear after compressing history stack?
maybe attach the xmp…

Just guessing you are trying this:

01

Instead, try this:

02

Retouch and Retouch 1 were in the right panel but somehow Retouch 1 disappeared. Now only Retouch is located in both right and left panels. BUT now the Input Color Profile appeared only in the left panel and not in the right panel. Input Color Profile which really messed up all of the images I was editing. Retouch still does not work. How do I get rid of Input Color Profile and what do I do to fix Retouch?

Thanks,

David

Neither. I was using “add circle”

A screenshot would go a long way.

Here is the screen shot

looks quite ok, what exactly is the issue?

Two problems. First, the Retouch module no longer works. I use “add circle” over the spot and drag to an area to replace the spot. No longer works at all. The second problem is some how “input color profile” was added to all of the images I’m processing. It is the left panel but not the right panel in my Favorites. I found "input color in “base” modules. How do I turn it off?

Appreciate your help

David

A screenshot showing all active modules would be useful. Select the tab with the ‘on/off button’ icon:

A shot of the input color profile module would also be useful:

Maybe you could share the image and the XMP? If the image is sensitive, just share the XMP, we can still have a look.

Here is the active screen shot:

This shows the color input color profile:

I need help getting the XMP file. Until now a .xmp file was always created with the .tif image after I export a .jpg file. In my test to get the .xmp file, the .jpg file was exported, but there is no .tif file or .xmp file in my .tif images. I don’t know what changed.

To get an xmp no matter what, you can go to the lighttable view, then select your image, and in one of the modules on the right hand side, there’s a button to write sidecar file. I think it’s in the ‘selected image’ module or similar but I’m not on my PC right now.

In light table view in select image(s) there is metadata but I could not fine a button to write sidecar file. On either the right or left side.

Sorry… I mis-remembered…
It’s in the history stack module:

You really don’t want input color profile to be turned off, since then darktable has no clue what colors all those values in the raw file are representing. You don’t need to change this, but interpreting the data the sensor and transforming them in color information is crucial for each raw developer even if they don’t make it transparent in most cases.
darktable by default makes each step in processing the sensor raw data fully transparent to the user since the user can override the defaults if necessary.

No, sorry, that just cannot be true. Old versions of darktable always created the XMP at import time; current versions provide three options – only at export time is not one of them:

The settings of the input color profile are not visible. If my understanding is correct, your input is TIFF or JPG, so the input color profile should probably be set to sRGB (or Adobe-RGB if that’s what you use, or to embedded profile, if the file has one):

It is not possible to turn off that module.
