Roadside flower - Can you save it?

Or has it already passed in to the great blurry beyond?

This was an offhand impulse shot: Stopped in the middle of a one-lane gravel road, hot sun, humidity, wind, briers / thorns everywhere… Made a little difficult to concentrate and it shows in the image (are those enough excuses?). I wanted a shallow DOF but it’s beyond that. I cranked up the ISO a little to get a really fast shutter speed in order to hopefully defeat the wind.

Meh. I’m no flower guy but it appears to be some kind of hibiscus maybe? It’s a decently pretty flower, but my perfectionist nature kicked in and I wanted to find a Perfectly Perfect Bloom. However, the heat kicked in harder and I promptly decided this was good enough!

Anyway, what can you do with it? Here’s my heavy-handedness in ART.

Good instincts; lovely framing and composition! Thanks for the share.

For the edit I went for a high-contrast look to emphasize petal structure and (hopefully) draw the eye toward the flower interior.

A very quick play in GIMP. Don’t examine it too closely!
