RT on Linux/WSL - menu / sub-menu behaviour - can it work?

Hello,
I usually run RT on Windows 11; but, have now installed Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) on the same machine, mostly with the intent of creating lensfun profiles. I’m finding the RT dropdowns unusable in two specific ways and I’m wondering if other RT users on Linux have a solution or workaround. I’ve been made aware over on the RT github site that these problems likely have their origin in the GTK libraries behind the GUI or perhaps elsewhere in the windowing system; but, perhaps there’s a clever workaround in use in the wild?

The first issue involves any dropdown that contains a sub-menu. In Windows, the sub-menus are displayed on the left of the main dropdown if there is not room on the right to fully display the sub-menu. On Linux, these sub-menus are simply cropped off and rendered unusable. Examples include the Processing Profiles selector on the Exposure tab, the Method selector in the WB tool on the Color tab, and the camera/lens selectors in the Profiled Lens Correction tool on the Transform tab.

The second issue is that long menus are cropped at the bottom of the screen and I can find no way to scroll down to view the cropped items.

Fingers crossed there’s some working solution to either issue.

Thanks,
Terry

why not just continue on the thread you already made on this topic: Anyone install RT dev build onto Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Window Subsystem for Linux)?
