Whenever I run RT, another application runs in parallel. It’s like a console and the only thing is does is display this:
(rawtherapee.exe:7064): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to fetch network locations: Error
opening directory ‘C:\Program Files\RawTherapee-4.2.699\network:’: No such file
or directory
(rawtherapee.exe:7064): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to fetch network locations: Error
opening directory ‘C:\Program Files\RawTherapee-4.2.699\network:’: No such file
or directory
(rawtherapee.exe:7064): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to fetch network locations: Error
opening directory ‘C:\Program Files\RawTherapee-4.2.699\network:’: No such file
or directory
and it just goes on like that.
The moment I close this “console”, the main RT application shuts down.
Is this the way it’s supposed to be? I don’t mind the second window but what’s with all the error messages?
Can it be that my Firewall is blocking something?
I think that is because changes to ClutsDirectory= .
Make sure it either blank ClutsDirectory= , or points to where you have them.
You can edit it in preferances .
You have downloaded the -Debug- version.
Go to the download page and download the one without “debug”

Hi @the-old-david
The window with the text is called a “console” window. It should have the RawTherapee version in the title, does it? e.g. “RawTherapee 4.2.699 Console”
That console window should only appear if you set verbose=true
in the options file. Edit the options file in a text editor and make sure verbose=false
Where to find the options file: File Paths - RawPedia
If your options file already has verbose=false
then please show a screenshot of the whole RT window and of this console window, and also tell us exactly which RT version you’re using and where you got it from (the exact URL, don’t just say “from this forum”).
This page explains how to take screenshots:

The console window’s title is “RawTherappe4.2.699”
*I’m on Windows 7.
Yeah… I remember downloading the ‘debug’ version… That was silly of me but at the time I thought that “debug” meant that it was the “bug-fixed” version of 4.2.699.
Debug or not, why do I see those error messages? What do they even mean?
And can anyone tell me how to install the normal (non-debug) version in place of what I have right now, without losing all my settings?
thanks!
All your settings are stored in the “options” file I mentioned above. You can make a copy of it as a backup. Then uninstall the debug version and install the release version. I would assume Windows will not remove the options file, but if it does, then you still have a backup.
OK. I’ll try that. Are you sure though I have to uninstall first?
You don’t need to uninstall first.
