Hello!
Android 15 is supposed to be able to run Linux programs.
What about the Linux version of Darktable?
Has anyone tried it on a tablet?
Or is Darktable (Linux) not yet working on Android 15?
Let’s suppose one make it running on Android 15, great! Do you think editing photos on a phone will be possible on such a small screen? How one is supposed to work with all the sliders…
No, not on a smartphone. I only want to use Darktable on a tablet-PC with Android.
It was announced that Android 15 will allow Linux programs with a graphical interface to run in a sandbox.
You can run it in a Chromebook. I’ve done it.You will need to try it and compile from source.
Darktable’s UI is very dense, certainly not optimized for touch devices. Assuming that you can get it to run, it would probably be a very frustrating experience.
Well, if you manage I am curious to hear your impressions ![]()
Unfortunately, I’m just a photographer.
Then I recommend a desktop or a laptop.
I’m aware of that. I’ve been working with Darktable for quite some time now.
I’ll be using the tablet PC with a mouse and keyboard. That shouldn’t cause any problems.
However, I’m not sure how reliably the Android sandbox works.
Back when there were Windows emulators for Apple PCs and vice versa, everything was very, very slow. And that made the emulators practically unusable.
