This is for IR folks. It was shot on a DMC-G1 converted by LifePixel to “full spectrum” (kinda). There are ways to post-process this kind of shot - all are welcome. Here’s my crappy try. I’m sure you can do better with the RW2!
Interesting, with everything almost back to their “proper” colors.
In IR work, the popular method in post-processing is to make foliage that is reflecting IR (due to chlorophyll content) close to white and let the other scene colors fall where they may.
Others favor the Kodak “Aerochrome” look with the vegetation usually red.
On a general note to all players, faux colors are both acceptable and often used by IR/full spectrum folks, so there is no need to revert to nature in this thread, although turning the brown sky to blue is quite usual.
Gave it a shot…here’s the results of a standard scene referred workflow, modules left to right.
Focused mainly on color adjustments and tone eq. I’ve never worked with an IR photo before so I was concerned I’d blow the coloring too much, so I completely reversed my standard global color adjustments. Negative vibrance, and then a high positive chroma, and moderately high saturation. After that it was a crop, and contrast eq adjustments. Near the end I went back to the color eq to adjust the red tint purity and strength.
Cool shot, now I want to go and try it…just need a sacrificial camera…
Yes, with a converted camera, IR people even swap channels in a three-channel mixer and start from there. I forget which ones but probably someone here knows, eh?
