The Southern California Linux Expo runs January 21-24, 2016 at the Pasadena Convention Center.
Will anyone else be there?
I’d love to meet up for a meal!
I see there is indeed a talk about GIMP there this year; I’ll certainly be there.

Unfortunately I am far from Pasadena.
For reference, it’s a long time GIMP member @akkana (Akkana Peck) that will be giving her talk on Stupid GIMP tricks (and smart ones, too). You may know her from her book Beginning GIMP: From Novice to Professional.
I talked to her earlier and told her you’d come by and say hi! Please give her a high five for me.
Don’t forget to mention the community to any photographers you meet.
Hi! Pat talked me into joining the discussion here.
I’m still working on my talk and haven’t planned everything yet, so if you have anything specific you’d like to see addressed, now’s a good time to ask. I’ll be covering mostly 2.8 functionality, but I’m hoping to show a few new features from 2.9.
As far as meal meetups, they have me scheduled right before lunch, so lunch on Saturday right after the talk might be an ideal time for a GIMP gathering.
Hi Akkana,
I’m planning on attending your talk, sounds awesome!
I am using GIMP mostly as further post processing after darktable; I’d like to hear anything about wavelet sharpen/octave sharpening/sharpening in general, dodging/burning, or resynthisizer. Oh, and any nifty tricks involving layer modes.
